“Hope”
2020
acrylic and marker on canvas (unframed)
45” x 45”

“Hope” was created right before the Covid-19 lockdowns of 2020. The original intention of the painting was to portray the city of New Orleans and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The subject matter, however, evolved as the piece was being completed.
The scene that unfolds features a common theme that occurs in the artist’s dreams: a pack of menacing wolves surrounding the dreamer. As the wolves attempt to destroy the neighborhood, Christ appears, and a spiritual battle ensues. The ultimate theme of the story in this piece is “hope in the midst of darkness."
